So – this was 2nd SOTA Activation for OM Leo OE2WNP together with me Wolf OE2WNL. Finding the way was not really easy as the way which we found in our map doesn’t exist there. Therefore we were not surprised that this was a first Activation.

And there was no sign pointing to the summit. So we somehow passed a little bit under the summit and then walked/climed the steep hill through the grass and plants up to the summit.

Conditions were not the best – many QRN/QRM on more or less free frequency. But we activated for sure with 15 QSO’ for OE2WNL/p and 10 QSO’s for OE2WNP/p.

Many thanks again for spotting us as Franz and Tom made it into their shacks just in time.

So Leo started again calling CQ – and with a little bit of patience OM’s dropping on the frequency.

QSO’s OE2WNL:
OE2SNL, OE2ATN, HA5TI, E77AW, DF1BN, DL2EF, ON4CCN, SV2KGA, F8AAB, SP9MDY, DL9SXX, ON7RN, IT9WLK, DL8DXL, ON5LBV

Thanks again to all stations we worked!

So today was the All OE Contest. It is is a contest and also an emergency test for Austrian Stations. Contest time was from 5:00-8:00 and from 14:00-17:00 UTC on 80m, 40m and 30m. Despite the fact that there where numerous stations QRV the number of QSO’s was not very satisfiying.

Just 21 QSO’s in 6 hours isn’t funny I just can explain this because I was using the vertical Antenna which uses to radiate very flat – which is good for DX but is not good for QSO’s within Austria. So all the contacts I made where really hard work. I was repeating my callsign (if I ever was heard) over and over again and in 14 SSB Contacts I was able to get into the log.

But nevertheless – I used this oppertunity and tried my skills in CW (which I’m learning right now). So this is what was cool – I’ve done 7 QSO’s sucessfully. Some times it was hard to read the characters because some Operators unfortionatly don’t QRS when you give slower than they – but I managed to get the callsigns and the area-code after some concentration.

All in all – next year I will set up what I planned for this year but wasn’t able to do – I will put my 10m fiber-glas mast together with my W3DZZ on the roof of our house – this has to be an very exiting view – but more important it might be the better Antenna for this purpose.

So thanks to all Stations which I was able to work – and a special Thanks to the station which I had contact via CW:

Whatever direction, North, East, South or West, Durchenkopf is just the best! 2 OM`s with their snowshoes and a very sunny day – this is the formula to get a plenty of QSO`s in the logs…
This is the first Blog-entry in English after migrating our CMS-System to Wordpress – from now on also foreign users will have the chance to follow our activities.

Over all the hike was 15 km long (with snowshoes!). After a little bit more than 1 hour ATN Tom had 30 QSO`s and WNL Woifal 40 QSO`s in the log (with the same RIG!). The well proven equipment was

W3DZZ antenna with 10 m glass-fibre mast

FT-817 QRP @ 5 Watt.

It took us 3 hours of walk to reach the summit. In total this activity lasted 7 hours. TNX to OE2SNL Franz, who spotted us, and TNX to all OM`s who answered our call. The 1st CQ from Woifal (really the 1st! and before spotting) immediately brought IZ1DFH in the log. From now on we worked about 2 QSO`s per minute.

TNX to all Chasers
Dank dem Spotten durch OE2SNL Franz dauerte es nur ein paar Momente, bis sich der Lautsprecher aufgrund des großen Andranges fast überschlug.
